Massachusetts General Hospital

Massachusetts General Hospital (Mass General), founded in 1811 and located in Boston, is the original and largest teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School. It consistently ranks among the top hospitals in the United States by U.S. News & World Report. In 2017, Mass General was the only hospital ranked in all 16 specialties evaluated — a testament to the breadth and depth of its expertise. Mass General houses the largest hospital-based research program in the United States, with an annual research budget exceeding $850 million. Virtually all of its physicians are Harvard Medical School faculty members, many of whom are pioneers in their respective fields. The hospital operates multidisciplinary teams across cancer, digestive diseases, neurosciences, cardiology, orthopedics, transplantation, urology, and trauma, providing advanced comprehensive care for both adults and children. The International Patient Center assists patients and families before, during, and after their visit with services including appointment coordination, admission procedures, interpreter services, medical record transfer, communication with local physicians, financial counseling, and concierge services.
