King's College Hospital

King's College Hospital, founded in 1840 in London, has developed over 170 years into a world-class medical institution with 12,000 staff. It is internationally renowned for several centers of excellence. The Liver Centre is one of the world's largest and most comprehensive liver disease treatment centers (particularly for liver cancer), and King's College Hospital's liver transplant program is Europe's largest. The Neurosciences Centre provides specialized, interdisciplinary care for Parkinson's disease, dystonia, progressive supranuclear palsy, and related conditions — designated as one of only five Centres of Excellence by the National Parkinson Foundation in the EU. The Motor Neuron Disease Care and Research Centre, established in 1995 by Professor Nigel Leigh, was the UK's first such dedicated center and has since been replicated across 13 UK centers. The hospital's Cancer Centre, as part of a comprehensive cancer network with Guy's and St Thomas' Hospitals and South London and Maudsley Hospital, treats brain, breast, colorectal, gynecological, head and neck, hepatobiliary-pancreatic, lung, lymphoma, bone marrow, neuroendocrine, skin, thyroid, upper gastrointestinal, and urological cancers.
