About Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children
Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children (GOSH), founded in 1852 and located in central London, is one of the world's leading children's hospitals. It is recognized as one of the world's top four pediatric hospitals and ranked #1 in Europe and #4 worldwide in pediatrics by Newsweek's World's Best Specialized Hospitals 2022.
With nearly 170 years of history and British Royal patronage, GOSH provides specialist care across more than 60 clinical specialties and subspecialties with over 300 world-class pediatric consultant physicians. It is the third-largest children's cancer/leukemia treatment center in the Western world, one of the world's leading pediatric heart transplant centers, home to a world-leading pediatric gene therapy center, one of Europe's largest pediatric bone marrow transplant centers, Europe's largest pediatric epilepsy surgery center, the UK's largest pediatric intensive care unit, the UK's largest pediatric brain surgery center, and the UK's largest kidney transplant center for children and craniofacial reconstruction center.
GOSH's motto — "The child first and always" — reflects its founding philosophy. The hospital was featured as one of Britain's national treasures during the 2012 London Olympics. GOSH is also the eternal home of Peter Pan and was presided over by Diana, Princess of Wales from 1989 until her passing. The hospital's International and Private Care department receives over 5,000 referrals annually from more than 80 countries, and through its deep partnership with Saint Lucia Consulting, an increasing number of Chinese families are accessing GOSH's life-changing care.
